ABOUT US

"Time changes. Life is not a backwater, but a river flowing. Without changes, time cannot exist. People change, the earth transforms, the foods ripen and rot, governments have their rise and collapse, organisms evolve and become extinct."

Winds of change are blowing in the direction of The Godspeed Society. In 2014 the band is preparing their next album. It is unclear yet whether it will be a sequel of Killing Tale, but everything points to a change of direction musically and an exercise of greater introspection. Much more focused on the music and to the inside than the story and visual exuberance, we can say that with Killing Tale the band invented their own style and with new work they are reinventing themselves.

It was in 2012 that the band released their first album, Killing Tale. Somehow conceptual, it told a story through the music and a book accompanying the CD, and the musicians took up the role of the main characters of the story. This album allowed The Godspeed Society to receive to most wonderful reviews over the international press:

“'Killing tale' is a bit special, some extravaganza even! Who would imagine to build some real powerplay musical?”

Filip VAN MUYLEM, Peek-a-boo Magazine, Belgium

“A second important feature must be highlighted is Sylvia Guerreiro’s voice. In fact, she has a voice that contributes to build the concept of the disc, the similarities with Edith Piaf are striking...”

Steven Akerfeldt, Music Waves, France

“It is a bold construct of Chanson, Cabaret, Classical, Dark, Ambient, Baroque, Soul and New Jazz. In quiet moments, in which a little Soul Pop prevails, one would think of Sade, whereas due to the dark female voices comparisons with Grace Jones would arise. Then, when a harsh undertone comes, we are with Eartha Kitt. Eventually a little Siouxsie Sioux kicks in and we finally have a bit of Goth Rock.”

Amboss Magazine, Germany

“And indeed it is precisely the blues to give a higher gear to the album of the Portuguese, who make such a fascinating, engaging and original sound (…) If we had discovered this sooner, it would be one of the finest records of 2012.”

Eleonora Novara, Hardsounds, Italy
